Who It's For
Built for young people ages 14–24 in Durham Region.
No prior experience is required. Participation does not depend on academic achievement or employment history.
If you're navigating the transition to adulthood — whatever that looks like for you — this program was designed with you in mind.
The Experience
What happens in the program.
What happens
Over six months, participants take part in workshops, group activities and community projects built around eight program areas — with mentors and positive relationships along the way.
Why it matters
YTEN is a youth development and violence-prevention pilot: creating connection, purpose and opportunity at the stage of life where it matters most.
What youth can gain
Leadership skills, confidence, practical life skills, positive relationships and real-world experience — stepping stones toward employment and independence.
Program Areas
Eight areas. One connected journey.
Every session draws from these areas, shaped around what participants want to get out of the program.
Strength-based approach: we start from what you bring, not what you lack.
